After a preparatory visit in Rouen, France the staff of ABB Industrigymnasium in Ludvika is now leading a project together with schools from Spain and France. The project will last two years and we made sure, according to Comenius incentives, many teachers are involved in the project. Here follows a description of the project and the activities which will be primarily in focus:
Due to increasing industrialisation the environment is becoming a very important issue these days. Many people are considering the environment issues more seriously than ever before. Schools are highly involved in making pupils and authorities sensible to these issues. With our partnership proposal we hope to bring our pupils and those of other European countries to a higher level of conscience of the environment we live in.
The partnership is expected to help first pupils to seriously consider the damage caused by the irresponsible industries particularly tourism on the environment, then to promote an alternative tourism.
More detailed description:
Our proposal is mainly a gesture to reconcile man and the environment. Many parts of Europe will be in focus by the different schools involved in the project. Each school should consider the impact of industry on our lives in the concerned regions. It is vital that we involve not only pupils and teachers but the local authorities and all kind of organisations that can help give the Partnership a successful outcome.
The impact of the partnership should be noticeable at the educational institutions of the region by initiating them to take part in appreciating the outcome of the project. Similarly the local community shall be invited to participate in the project and to take part in initiating alternative ways to today’s tourism. We believe that the local community has the authority to make changes in this field for a durable development.
Pupils should be aware of the differences between regions of European countries and they should compare these regions listing the advantages and the drawbacks of these regions concerning tourism.
The pupils should master the techniques involved in pursueing the project: computer program, email and video editing. The pupils should exchange experiences between all the schools involved. The partnership should have impact on the teachers: by giving the project and the teaching methods a European dimension, and by trying new teaching methods from different European countries and establishing a less stereotype relations to the pupils.
We shall make sure that the partnership is known to the local community through the local papers, the Internet and the different educational institutions of the region.
